politics. >> with polls showing it a dead heat the romney campaign is focused on turnout. in this field office in ohio volunteers call a list of voters they believe lean republican while others knock on doors. >> i haven't made up my mind. >> the romney campaign believes enthusiasm among the base and strength with independents will carry them to victory but there is the reality of the map. without ohio his path is difficult. that is why he is making a late play for pennsylvania. president obama spends his day focusing on three states the campaign hopes will be his fire wall, iowa wisconsin and ohio. if he can win them that would give him 271 electoral votes one more than needed to win. mitt romney's final stop is in new hampshire indian by his wife aefrpb and rocker kid rock before heading to boston for the big day testimony. >> abc 7 is on your side

by this afternoon. 43 is the temperature. clouds keeping us a little warmer in the district. in the northwest a cool breeze 10 miles an hour. other temperatures across the area look how chilly it is in call peeper with 37. 39 in manassas. we have freeze warnings in the west and north of the metro area to expire at 8:00. if you have a chance to grab some flowers bring them inside. cooler than average. 47 to 52 and voting weather tomorrow looking good albeit chilly and we are tracking a coastal storm that will bring some rain and wind wednesday into thursday potentially a little wintry mix thursday morning but nothing to be too concerned about. jamie is thinking traffic bad. how is it right now? >> jackie you are funny because i look at that extended forecast all the time saying that might be a tough rush hour.

this morning it is quiet, dry pavement. a lot of construction work overnight around the beltway in the tysons area. north 95 up to the beltway no problems, here springfield. we are a-ok. into the nation's capital. no problems. quiet. 14th street bridge and lower 14th street good. back to you. >> 4:42. investigators try to figure out what sparked a fire at an arlington apartment building. it broke out about 6:00 sunday night in a basement apartment in the 2900 block of south glebe road. no word if anybody was hurt. >> investigators trying to figure out what started a fire at an adams morgan restaurant. it broke out around 8:00 on 18th street. no word on the extent of the

damage. >> a d.c. councilwoman will hold a hearing on the speed cameras to reduce the maximum fine for seven offenses from $125 to $50 and more transparent and accountable warning system. the hearing starts at 11:00 and will be in room 412 of the wilson building 1350 pennsylvania avenue northwest. >> 4:43 and let's look at news around prince george's county. people using the transit system the bus will pay more starring from $1 to $1.25 because of rising costs. another rough weekend for the redskins. >> not a good game. firms time back-to-back quarterback heisman trophy winners competed with the panthers' cam newton against robert griffin iii. the redskins didn't do enough to win.

>> a judge deciding whether the prosecutor overseeing the retrial of a former death row inmate can stay on the case. the attorney wants ray more row to be removed because he is too close to prince william commonwealth attorney paul ebert who first prosecuted wolf. the conviction and death steps in a 2001 killing were overturned last year. a person is scheduled to be in court for a status conference. she faces attempted murder in connection with the october 2011 incident in lanham. court records show she spent six years in a mental hospital after stabbing two people at montgomery mall in 2005. a canal late vigil will be held for a teenager hit by a car and killed. she was on the way to high school in germantown crossing germantown road when a car

in 2:15. police and paerpls were called to ring road and found the body of a man with gunshot wounds. he was identified as andre jackson of southeast d.c. police are still looking for his killer. >> howard university students want to know what the school is going to -- doing to keep them safe after a student was sexually assaulted on campus. there will be a town hall meeting meeting. a 17-year-old is seen here in surveillance got into a third floor room and attacked a student at knifepoint. >> that really hit home for us. it was -- i couldn't sleep that same night. >> howard officials haven't said how exactly he was able to get into the dorm room. students suspect it was because security procedures involving i.d. checks were not being enforced. >> eleanor holmes norton focusing on public safety issues
